The Year Ahead In Tutoring
The summer holidays have flown by and students in exam years have got their results. So with a new academic year ahead what have Osborne Cawkwell tutoring experts got in store? Here’s a quick run down of some the services we will be offering in 2018-19.
Tutor training workshops
We pride ourselves that we meet our tutors at least twice in person before deciding to take them on, once at their interview and again at a tutor induction session. However, this year is going to be a little different. We have previously run workshops for our tutors to help them develop their skills set and keep them up to date with the latest educational news and examination boards. This year we are running an entire season of practical workshops covering everything from bridging the gap from GCSE to A-level tuition, helping students with Special Needs such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, ADHD and Autism. There will be tips for those tutoring students for Common Entrance exams and a how to incorporate Mindfulness into lessons. We have a host of wonderful specialist speakers lined up to deliver this exciting programme. We are proud to continue training our tutors so that they can offer the best service guide your children through their tuition.
Our services
Osborne Cawkwell Tuition believes in bespoke, tailor made tuition. Once we have spoken to prospective clients about their child’s needs we will approach individual tutors who we believe are best suited to help. This will be based upon the tutor’s experience, subject knowledge, personality, location and availability. We never send round robin emails or advertise jobs online. We are also one of the few tutoring agencies that do not take a registration fee when you contact us. We are a small but specialist team with experience working in education, schools and tutoring for the past twenty years.
Common Entrance Tuition
Our specialist common entrance exam tutors offer tuition ranging throughout the education spectrum from 7+, 8+, 11+, 13+ and 16+. We frequently help students study to gain places in the best independent schools in the country and also offer bespoke interview technique sessions. Our tutors will focus on developing your child’s knowledge from the ground up, working on their exam technique and making sure they feel confident and well prepared taking these exams.
GCSE and A-Level Tuition
As well as providing general help, tutors also assist students in examination years for GCSE and A-level. We will ask you for your child’s examination board, modules and topics they need help with. From there we will approach tutors who have the right experience and who teach to the same examination board. We have tutors who teach all Primary and Secondary subjects including more specialist subjects at A-Level such as Further Maths, Statistics and Economics.
Special Needs Support
We are extremely lucky to have a Special Needs and Dyslexia consultant, Sarah Cox. Sarah has worked in several London preparatory and primary schools and has a good understanding of the level of support needed by students on the SEND register. In addition, Sarah is trained in study skills and specific learning difficulties. She can provide guidance for parents and advises tutors on suitable teaching techniques.
